Style Plan, the more sustainable subscription box
The clothing subscription box that sends you more eco-friendly outfits
Since we first launched Frank And Oak back in 2012, we’ve always wanted to help people dress better and take the headache out of shopping for new clothes. That’s where Style Plan comes in – our easy monthly style subscription box that does the work but gives you the final say.
But we have to do even more! The decisions made in the fashion industry have a huge impact on people and the planet. That’s why we need to do our part by offering more sustainable products that make use of eco-friendly fabrics and practices throughout our supply chain. The result? A subscription box that sends you stylish clothes with substance.
Our approach to sustainability falls into two groups – sustainable processes and/or sustainable fibres. Here are some of the ways we’re doing our part for the environment with our sustainable line of clothing.
1. Hydro-less denim
We’ve partnered with Hydro-Less Laundry, an eco-certified facility in Dubai that specializes in sustainable denim production to implement a new, innovative, eco-friendly approach to treating denim.
The standard denim manufacturing process wastes thousands of gallons of water. Hydro-Less’ factory utilizes nano-bubble and Ozone-wash technologies to conserve water. It's denim done right.
- 79% energy
- 50% chemicals
- 95% water
2. High-quality cotton, harvested sustainably
The cotton used for many of our garments is grown organically using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture.
3. Low-impact and recycled fibres
We're not stopping at cotton. We're committed to using more alternative, eco-friendly materials. For example, soft and smooth Lenzing TENCEL™ fibres use wood from sustainable eucalyptus plantations as their raw material. It’s a zero-waste process that uses 20x less water than regular cotton, is more durable and is completely compostable and biodegradable.
We’ve also increased our use of recycled polyester that uses the PET found in clear plastic bottles to create a fabric that prevents them from ending up in a landfill or the ocean.
It's often overlooked, but of the utmost importance – packaging. We want to keep our packaging as low-impact as possible (while still ensuring orders arrive without being damaged). Every order is shipped with 100% recycled paper with no excess plastic wrapping. Yeah, sure, people like unboxing videos, but all that clever wrapping just ends up in the trash. What’s the use of eco-friendly clothes if what it arrives in contributes to post-consumer waste?
This is just the start; we continue to seek out improved methods and materials every day. Our sustainable offerings are increasing every month – this is just some of what you're likely to find when you make your receive your Style Plan box.
