October is here and with it comes weather that's ideal for handsome layering. And although Halloween will be here soon, that's no reason to be dressing like the living dead. Browse our new collection of hardy fall garms and get your closet sorted with some sartorial treats. Here are 4 looks to get your fall freak on over the next few months.

Grungy goodness

We love an overshirt. It's an easy weekend look when paired with jeans and a crewneck sweater. When it's not quite cold enough for proper outerwear but you want to be more casual than a hefty blazer would allow, an overshirt, especially the sherpa-lined variety will do the job. One of this month's key styles is our Sherpa Lined Wool-Blend Overshirt in Red Buffalo Check. Buffalo check is probably the pattern most associated with fall, but if you'd like to dial it back a bit you can go for Orange and Navy

Winterised shirting

We've said it before but it's worth a little reminder that the classic Oxford shirt is a must have as it's the most versatile shirt in your closet. It can take you from day to night, weekday to weekend. It can be dressed up with a suit jacket or be made casual unbuttoned with a T-shirt underneath and even a cardigan underneath (if you go up a size). We've gone head and winterized-our classic Oxford with soft, brushed cotton that will keep you warm and cosy through to spring.

We recommend picking up a few of these staples in strong neutral colours like Grey or Green Gingham and maybe even get something bolder like Bronze into the mix. The style opportunities are endless and with seven great options under $70 you can really fill go to town and put your winter style on autopilot.

Need for tweed

The best thing about October is that it's cold enough outside to wear a sharp wool blazer, but not so cold that you have to cover it up with a coat. So feel free to wear your best blazer as outerwear. The other great thing about these autumnal layers is that they're easy to wear with a wool trouser (as seen above) as they are with faded jeans. A relaxed pair of worn-in jeans with a sweater under a blazer is a bonafide power move. Mix in a brightly coloured toque and you're fully prepared for fall.

Big coat season is upon us

Speaking of outerwear, if you've been outside recently you will know that we have now entered "big coat" season. Your most massive coats can finally be deployed from the back of your closet. And since you can never have enough coats, in our honest opinion, you may as well have a look at our latest.

Above you'll see our Metro Mid Parka, which we've designed for city-dwellers on the move. It also features 3M™ featherless insulation, 2-layer water repellent and wind resistant shell– all made with polyester sourced from recycled plastic bottles. Find it and more in the Outerwear section.
